Transitional Living Program

Hope, stability and discipleship

While there are several treatment facilities helping people become drug-free, Hope For Appalachia's residential mentorship and transitional living program is focused on giving men a safe and stable environment where they can live life in a Christ-centered community as they transition back into society and reconcile with their families. We provide free housing and all daily needs so our residents are freed to focus on the issues that can help them move on in life.

Transitional Living

Overcoming addiction is an intense physical and spiritual battle that requires sustained, long-term efforts. Our residential mentorship and transitional living program utilizes a holistic approach focused on treating the whole person.

Spirit

Through Biblical discipleship, we help our residents work though addiction's spiritual challenges.

Body

Through disciplined daily habits, we help our residents confront the physical challenges of addiction

Mind

Through personal mentorship, we help our residents overcome the emotional challenges of addiction.

"God's intent for our lives has always been to live in community with one another, joyously worshipping our Creator. But we are sinners, prone to stumble when left to our own defenses, and Satan is a master of isolating us when we are most vulnerable. That is why the Gospel must be central in the battle against addiction."
- KYLE FLANAGAN, HOPE FOR APPALACHIA VICE PRESIDENT

 Mentorship and Accountability

All prospective residents must be drug free for at least 30 days before admission and go through a formal application process that can take several weeks. Residents who are accepted and agree to join the program are a paired with a resident coach who will disciple them in their walk with Jesus Christ, encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle, make sure they meet volunteer service requirements and help develop goals to pursue employment, education or job training, reduce debt and pay legal fees, and restore relationships, where possible.

Through this process, residents learn new patterns and practices that reshape their lives around glorifying God. Over time, they learn how to incorporate Gospel truths in their lives, develop new and healthy relationships and become responsible men and fathers and productive members of society.

Our residents are served by staff and volunteers who care for them each day. This team is dedicated to walking with our residents through daily challenges and setbacks, while also encouraging and exhorting them to faithfulness and sobriety. While we look to Jesus, the Great Physician, to bring spiritual healing to our residents, Hope For Appalachia is not a clinical or medical treatment center.
