Join us for our 2020 Walk For Hope at the West Virginia State Capitol on Aug. 15 and help us raise money for our Children's Resource Center. This year, we will be walking in the midst of a lot of uncertainty due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has left many kids and families in our community without basic needs.
The Coronavirus pandemic has resulted in the closing of schools and nutrition programs many children in our community rely on. While the county school system provides breakfasts and lunches, the reality is that kids are still going hungry. To address this need, we have started a snack bag program for children on Charleston's West Side.
These are certainly trying times. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected us all in one form or another. To prevent the spread of the virus, Americans and people across the globe are altering the way they travel and interact with others for the foreseeable future. This has resulted in social distancing, stocking up on resources and looming anxiety, disruptions which disproportionately affect poor communities. But we are not without hope.
It's Children of Addiction Awareness Week and we want to help shine a light on the adverse impact of a parent’s alcohol and drug use on children and families.
We have made significant progress on the renovations to our office and client meeting space at the Children's Resource Center and will be opening on February 10! While we have several supplies and items already, we still need your help to stock the shelves with food, clothing and other items we'll use to provide emergency relief to children and families affected by the addiction epidemic in our community.
